The Teiresias Centre of Masaryk University Since 2000, the Support Centre for Students with Special Needs at Masaryk University has been ensuring that study programmes accredited at MU are to the greatest possible extent accessible to students with sensory or motion disability, with specific learning disorders and with other difficulties. The Teiresias Centre is an educational centre with a variety of instruction – its courses supplement or substitute regular tuition and/or lifelong education courses; all courses take place on Masaryk University premises assigned to students with disabilities; lifelong education course participants have access to the same technological equipment and study materials as fulltime university students, has its student administration unit to support the study organization of students with disabilities, offers counselling and methodological support to high school students and teachers, is a research institution developing its technological solutions, collaborates with national institutions (Scio, CERMAT) on modifications of study materials and tests for students with disabilities, publishes in Braille and runs a national digital university library, runs an interpreting and speech-to-text reporting centre, runs a personal assistance dispatch centre. The Theseus Project The Theseus project aims to improve the accessibility of the digital environment and to enable people to work in this environment with information on websites, applications and documents in a way that minimises the barriers they have to overcome. About me

Radek Pavlíček is a renowned accessibility and assistive technology expert with more than 25 years of experience helping others to make their products and services accessible. He works as a senior accessibility specialist, project coordinator, and event manager at the Teiresiás Centre of Masaryk University.

Radek has been working on digital accessibility since 1998. Either alone or with his team, which he leads at Masaryk University under the Théseus project, he helps to improve the accessibility of digital products of many larger and smaller entities, including Czech Television, Czech Radio, and the Brno City Municipality.

Radek is the first Certified Professional in Web Accessibility in the Czech Republic and a member of the International Association of Accessibility Professionals.

In 2023, Radek won The Mosty Award from The Czech National Disability Council for an extraordinary activity or act in favour of citizens with disabilities - more than twenty years of work on activities leading to mitigating or removing barriers in the digital space - on websites, applications or documents.

The primary task of the Teiresias Centre is to provide maximum accessibility to all accredited degree programmes at the University for the visually impaired, the deaf and hearing impaired, people with limited or restricted mobility and people with other types of disabilities.
