About me
My name is Racheal Inegbedion. I have over ten years of experience working in Disability Advocacy, Policy, and Youth Development. I founded and lead the Special Needs Initiative for Growth (SNIG), where I work to open up opportunities for people with disabilities, especially in jobs and environmental sustainability.
I specialize in creating policies that improve job opportunities and promote environmental fairness for people with disabilities. I earned a Master’s degree in Sustainable Development from the University of St. Andrews, where my research looked at how environmental justice and disability are connected. Right now, I am studying for a PhD in Global Inclusion and Social Development at the University of Massachusetts Boston. My research focuses on how well policies are working to provide job services for people with disabilities.
I have been recognized for my work in disability rights and inclusion. I am an Ashoka Young Changemaker and a Mandela Washington Fellow Alumna. My efforts in inclusive education and employment have been praised by the UN Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth. I am also involved in international disability rights work as the International Engagement Committee Chair on the board of the World Institute on Disability. In this role, I collaborate with other advocates to push for global disability rights.
Also, I serve on the Climate Adaptation Forum Steering Committee, helping to organize discussions about climate resilience. This forum is a joint effort by the Environmental Business Council of New England and the Sustainable Solutions Lab at UMass Boston. It brings people together to tackle climate challenges in the U.S. and explore ways to adapt to environmental changes.
My mission is to develop global policies that ensure fairness in employment and strengthen environmental resilience for people with disabilities. I use technology, research, and advocacy to create lasting change. I aim to be a leader in this field, working on solutions that combine disability inclusion with sustainability.
I share ideas and information resources about disability rights, job policies, and environmental issues. I discuss research findings, policy changes, and real-life examples of how inclusive policies make a difference. My goal is to raise awareness and influence policy to improve lives.
My work focuses on two key areas. First, I advocate for job policies that remove barriers and create equal opportunities for people with disabilities. Second, I push for policies that include people with disabilities in environmental planning, making sure their needs are part of climate solutions.
