About me
Dr. Sylvia Roozen is the Secretary General at the International Federation for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus (IF) – head office in Brussels, Belgium. The international federation represents people with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus (SBH) and their families worldwide. The federation founded in 1979, represents Member Associations in countries all over the world with unique and expert knowledge on SBH. Sylvia has extensive work experience in the non-profit sector for people with preventable disabilities and in developing organizational strategies. Within the International Federation, she provides overall leadership and direction. Together with IF’s Members, Board Members, IF’s Secretariat, and public-private-civil partnerships, Sylvia is dedicated to building positive futures for people with SBH, and to reduce the prevalence of neural tube defects and Hydrocephalus by primary prevention through improving maternal health literacy, raising awareness, political advocacy, research, community building, and human rights education.

The International Federation for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus is the international organisation representing people with SBH and their families worldwide. IF has country members in Africa, Americas, Asia-Pacific, and Europe with unique and expert knowledge on SBH.
The mission of IF is to improve the quality of life of people with SBH and their families, and to reduce the prevalence of neural tube defects and Hydrocephalus by primary prevention through improving maternal health literacy, raising awareness, political advocacy, research, community building, and human rights education.
