SPOON
About
SPOON is an international NGO that combines training, a digital health app, and advocacy to prevent and address malnutrition in children with disabilities. The app, Count Me In, facilitates the assessment and monitoring of children's growth, anemia status, and feeding challenges over time. It provides trained users with recommendations and care plans, and generates data to inform inclusive policies.
We estimate that worldwide, at least 250 million children with disabilities or without family care are highly vulnerable to malnutrition because existing systems are failing them. Our goal is to ensure that all of these children are reached by systems that prioritize, include, and meet their nutrition and feeding needs.
Since 2007, SPOON has implemented programs in 21 countries. We have trained hundreds of professionals who, in turn, have trained thousands of families and caregivers. Those families and caregivers have directly reached over 52,000 children, resulting in improved nutrition and feeding outcomes. SPOON leverages program data and outcomes with the global community and advocates for policies, investments, and actions to improve nutrition and feeding for vulnerable children.
