Schulzentrum Ungargasse (SZU) is a technical high school located in Vienna. The school prioritizes the admission of students with physical and sensory disabilities. It provides them with the necessary support to participate in the lessons, such as free assistive devices and help from teachers. The school offers barrier-free architecture and boarding facilities. In 2023, the school had 1,200 students, 30 per cent with disabilities. SZU is a Model United Nations partner, a UNESCO school and a European Youth Parliament partner.
I am an English language teacher at SZU in Vienna, a Vocational College for ages 14 to 19 with a strong focus on reverse integration. I have extensive experience working in inclusive school settings. The social dimension of our diverse school environment is something that I greatly value. It fosters a unique school spirit that naturally promotes the type of interpersonal skills that students require in the 21st century for international employability.
