About
Our project, which is already 4 years old, is to promote social inclusion (Barriers to inclusion, a social opportunity, BIOS); We work with children and young people diagnosed with Asperger syndrome, Autism and children who have been victims of bullying. Our inclusion program is to "include" these special children, to understand that we all learn from our differences and to break the paradigms of traditional education.
Parallel to the process of social inclusion, we design strategies and skills in programming and mechanics of robots, under the LEGO ROBOTICS model. This learning program is aimed at children and adolescents from 3 to 18 years old.
The TOTAL inclusion and integration process is carried out through robotics teams called TEAM BIOSBOT, where girls, boys and young people diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome, Autism, children victims of bullying and children from regular or neurotypical classrooms are brought together. These spaces allow the development of the aforementioned strategies, in addition to strengthening social interactions, allowing all members of the robotics teams to improve their self-esteem, increase their frustration threshold and finally give them the opportunity to participate in national and international robotics tournaments. These robotics teams allow to teach children and adolescents that through robotics they can break paradigms, break barriers for inclusion, break technological barriers, create social opportunities, generate new learning, develop talents, discover new skills, strengthen them and perform social work in communities in need. This is the focus and the great social value of our robotics clubs.
While it is true that bullying and school and social harassment are still present in our society, these educational strategies and the competition in robotics tournaments, help "special" children and young people to improve 100% their personal and social life conditions and to feel more self-confident, as they begin to realize their capabilities and potential.
